The world's only Lindy hop and circus event!


The Bristol Swing Festival is an international level Lindy Hop camp with circus taster classes and performances. Why? You've explained it better than we can:


"The best thing was the mixing of circus folk with dancy folk... this felt really lovely. It refreshed the scene. Stunning idea to have a cross-over sharing of skills. It was the best weekend of dance and fun I've ever had."



BSF 2012 will be even better. We're welcoming back some of the same dance and circus teachers from last year, together with some new ones:
Davis & Claudia (Ninjammerz)
Angela Andrew (Lyon)
Paul & Christi (Scotland)
Numerous professional circus performers/teachers based in Bristol.
Add in 4 dances, 2 nights with live band, 1 after party, and stunning swing/circus cabaret performances.


We take your feedback very seriously, so we've made some changes from last year:
  • You said there was just too much in one weekend, so we've kept the main Lindy Hop workshops the same, but spread over 3 days instead of 2. This means later starts :-)
  • It also means you get an extra night dancing too - 3 evening dances (plus 1 after-party), and 1 tea dance.
  • 2 nights with live music, instead of 1.
  • Some people said they'd have liked a few more dance tasters so we've added some at the end of the teaching day.
  • We've kept the circus tasters the same, but added a circus skills practice session on the third day. We're also creating space for dance practice (as an alternative to circus sessions).
  • We'll keep all the food at dances that you liked so much (this time with cutlery!) and we promise we'll make the daytime food run more efficiently.
  • We're exploring the feasibility of lift-share arrangements or shuttle buses during the weekend, which a few people suggested.
